What is a Customer Persona?
Definition: Customer personas (sometimes referred to as buyer personas) are fictional, generalized representations of your ideal customers.
Summary: Illustrated below you will see three representations of a companies ideal customer. These personas should be created based on industry trends, feedback, and current website analysis. Personas help us all – in marketing, sales, product, and services – internalize the ideal customer we’re trying to attract, and relate to our customers as real humans.
Each persona focuses on a specific content type and tone that is relatable to the user or source traffic. Our marketing efforts are directed to filling the needs of these personas in hopes of increasing conversions. Both traditional and digital marketing directives will utilize these personas to create the appropriate content for the audience.
Below is a list of three high level personas, their tones, types, as well as examples of the messages to include for each.
A breakdown of the three customer personas are represented in a color coordinated flow chart below. The purple color nodes represent the tone each topic is to take in order to fulfill the desires of the customer personas, the blue color nodes represent the topics for the content to be created, and the orange color nodes represent examples of the content created from the tone of the message.
If you are considering a more targeted and focused content strategy make sure to map out your customer profiles with unique customer personas. This does take time, but it is well worth it when you are able to see the return on your efforts.
